Save 10% for signing up with Sitter City!

March 30, 2009 By: admin Category: Discounts

Sitter City, one of my favorite sites is extending their saving 10% to sign up with their website!
I love this matching process, and whether you are looking for a babysitter, pet sitter, nanny, senior care or tutors, this is a fabulous site to use! Basically you can try it out to see how it works initially. When I looked for any of these, I could see profiles of the people registered to sit, and how far away they are. I can also see the profiles, experience levels and pictures of the people I could choose from.
This really helps niche out what you are looking for. Take advantage of it soon, as this offer is going to expire end of April!

Friday, Unique Bargain Birthday Gift Idea for the Golfer

March 27, 2009 By: admin Category: Gifts

Regardless if you remember Saturday Night Live’s stint on Schwettyballs, it’s a name/word that definitely sticks in your mind.  This lighthearted website is great for someone who has it all, and likes a little “roast” on their birthday, or for any other celebration for that matter.

If you go to Schwettyballs and click on the “shop now” tab and that is where I found this funny gift where you can get a case of golfballs, a cap and a polo shirt for about $40, which is a pretty good price for all of the items.  Plus, if you wanted, you could even personalize all of the items!

I have that particular someone who I never know what to get them for their birthday or Christmas, and this was a unique and specific idea that I found ingenious!

Anxiety, How do You Calm Yourself as a Woman?

March 27, 2009 By: admin Category: Health

There are so many different ways media tries to push anxiety reduction, an ominous plague fought by almost any American today.  I’ve tried it all, from prescription pills for anti anxiety, and sleep aides.  I’ve tried natural products like St. John’s Wort and many other types of natural herbs and vitamins that are supposed to help with stress.  I’ve also tried exercise, going to bed at the same time every night, some meditation and what not.

What have I found?  Well, I found that if you are able to take a Vitamin B Complex along with regular exercise helps the best.  The vitamin B’s break down with food intake (if you take on an empty stomach, nausea will ensue) and feed your nervous system with energy.  Exercise?  Gives you tons of improvement regardless of what you are targeting.  It will aid you emotionally, physically, mentally and socially.

If you are like me, exercise is not the most exciting thing to do in my day.  In fact, if I can procrastinate it, I will.  However, and this is an exercise I fought, Yoga has turned out to be one of my favorites on top of walking.  Every time I do yoga, my body calms down and the meditative breath/movement cycle takes your mind off of worry/anxiety and you have to concentrate on how you are moving and breathing while toning and limbering up your body.  This is very revitalizing.

When I started doing Yoga, I could hardly do any of the moves and I found them frustrating.  I didn’t know pose names and didn’t want to practice or take classes in front of others because I was so bad.

I found this site: MyYogaOnline.com that has a community if you want to participate, but really the best thing is you can download videos!  This means you don’t even have to drive to the store and you can even watch them on your ipod if you want!  It’s another site I’m happy with the navigation, and it’s inexpensive as well because you can download it!

Also, if you are interested, they even provide you with music selections for the times when you just need to sit, breathe and listen to something calming.

Good Petsitters Wanted!

March 24, 2009 By: admin Category: Animals

In need of a Petsitter?  This site is so cool: SitterCity.com!  It brings together the very items that people need to feel safe: people in their local area, people who have experience and a good matching system for pet sitting.  You can perform background checks on the people you are considering working with and even monitor your place by video!  You can make a profile and describe your animal so you can find a great fit without any worry!  I am newly in LOVE with it and boy is this a time saver…  And the website is  easy to navigate through..VERY user friendly! And it’s nice to feel more safe about who is watching my animal.

Check it out!

2009 Tax Return…are you Ready?

March 23, 2009 By: admin Category: Taxes

The 2009 tax filing is quickly approaching, right on the heels of our economic OUCH.  Nobody really wants to deal with this, and many because of how much the economy has hurt many of us. But, regardless, it’s something anyone who makes more than a few thousand dollars a year must to for the legal purposes.

I HATE doing my taxes.  Let me rephrase it:  I hate it so much I pay someone else to do it, and it’s very expensive.  I don’t know if it’s really worth it.  BUT, I am one of those people who wants to blame someone else if something goes wrong.  If I wasn’t such a stickler for that very purpose, I would be doing my taxes online, with a program that is easy to use.

In checking out some of the sites and having used some myself (years ago), I can say that after all the reviews and such, I really think it’s a good idea to just file online.  Reason being is i had gotten rid of a computer long ago that had my tax information on it and I realize that probably wasn’t such a good idea for the security purposes.  Turbotax does allow you to purchase the software.  BUT if you are a person who isn’t so paranoid, 1040.com website will work much better for you.  And these would be great eligible parties for this type of tax filing software:

  1. Has fairly easy taxes (either little to no itemization or large medical bills, or don’t own a home or
  2. Doesn’t own a home or does little itemization- you can only file EZ if you aren’t a homeowner.
  3. lived in the same state all year
  4. has had no marital or other major changes in the 2009 year

This particular company, 1040.com has been in business since 1992, and is the one I did more research on and know people who are using it.  They are all online and provide you an easy to follow set of questions as you use it for your tax filing.  A few items I’d like to mention:  all their information is done through a SECURE SOCKET LAYER (you can see Https in the URL field once you start filling out the information). This means your information is secure and encrypted.  That is most important.  You need to be able to trust that all your information is not open for public viewing.

In getting started, you will need to create a profile.  Credit Card information is taken much further along so you can get a slight feel for how things work.  The cost is really minimal (when you consider spending close to $200 when you pay for an accountant). about $15 for everything, AND you can submit your taxes online for free to either the IRS for federal or state.  You also get information and future tax change notifications.

One, thing you do need to make sure you are set up for this to work, so use either Internet Explorer 6.0 version or Firefox.

Also, if you get any errors, you need to make sure you allow pop ups and are cookies enabled.  Most computers already have this if you haven’t made specific changes.

Also, if you have a comment on your experience, please feel free to do so!

Medicare? Are you Eligible?

March 20, 2009 By: admin Category: Insurance

With so many people turning over the age of sixty-five (65), Medicare Insurance has become quite a topic of discussion.  With both my parents and my grandmother being in that age, I’ve started to do research on this topic and have gotten more familiar with the eligibility requirements.

There are two open enrollment phases: November 1-31 for Part D coverage (Prescription) and through March 31 for Medicare Advantage (more comprehensive coverage, not supplimental, like regular health insurance).

Other than that, the only eligible parties are:

1.       Person turning age 65

2.       Newly retired (age 65 but retired)

3.       Moved- need to change medicare coverage

4.       Shopping supplement plans (Part A, B, and C)

Most important, because Medicare is a difficult insurance to understand, finding the fit for pricing and plans is hard.  Along with that, it’s important to have an agent and insurance company you can trust.  I actually have a friend (being me) who works at this company and have referred my grandmother to them! I’m happy to say, I’m glad, MedicareSolutions is taking care of her!

Tired of Feeling Like Your Auto Insurance Premiums are going to Bonus Payouts?

March 19, 2009 By: admin Category: Insurance

If you are one of the (many) disgruntled Americans feeling a little like their policy money is going into someone’s pocket, you are not alone! (as if)

If you are thinking it might be a good time to look and see what your options are for auto insurance, I’ve checked out this website, Insureme.com, which is an easy online site that takes enough of your information without being overbearing and  based on certain criteria that you enter, you will be matched with agents who fit the profile you created.  You will also be shown the contact informatioh of the agents you are matched with!I was happy to have the names, numbers and email addresses of the agents that I was matched with.  I also didn’t get overburdened with too many agents, which was nice.  I got a choice of people to work with and different auto carriers.  InsureMe also provides you with a survivor guide on questions to ask so I could keep track of prices and agents!

Click here to see if you can get a better plan and policy price for your peace of mind!

Cat Bargains today…

March 18, 2009 By: admin Category: Animals

Ok, I checked out this site: ThePetStoreOnline, and although it doesn’t provide the best prices on let’s say Litter boxes, it did have the furminator at a good price, plus there is free shipping for orders over $75.

I know that might be a tall order, but it’s kind of nice to be able to order online and have the items be delievered to your home, worry free.  I personally sometimes wait till the last moment to get my cat’s good and litter, and I end up spending more because of that.

With this option, an aging cat and the ability to order online and stay home, this is an option I took advantage of!  She is definitely getting more expensive with her now recurring allergies and always having to clean her teeth.  So now I get treats that are healthy and have tartar control in them.  I get food that is all natural, and toys that make her run around.

Pet stores are not that close to me, and that is another reason I endorse shsopping here!

Need a Cheap Vacation? Las Vegas is Warm, Fun and Economical. Lots to do and See!

March 17, 2009 By: admin Category: Discounts, Travel

I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling the winter and economic blues. But I can’t afford an exotic trip, what with all the bills and taxes piling up..it becomes more of a daydream than reality.

However, if you do have a little fundage and need a getaway, Las Vegas is a good place to go.  The flights are cheap and you can stay (especially in off season or weekdays) at a nice hotel for a good rate.  What hurts is meals and entertainment.  That gets to be expensive.  I found this site: Las Vegas Discounts, that actually offers some really good deals and discounts on meals and entertainment!

You can choose from a show, such as Ice, Fab Four mania, Ccomedy Club.  Or, you can choose meals at a 2 for 1 rate, such as Manalay bay House of Blues, and Paris, or even Planet Hollywood.  Lastly you can get a spa visit, go see some actual sites such as lake las vegas, or ride a balloon or in a plane!

Check it OUT!
